Petra Onderuf Quartet

Slovak jazz violinist and composer Petra Onderuf connects musical traditions in unusual ways, expanding jazz paradigms with rhythmic and melodic elements from world music. Rooted in jazz harmonies and improvisation, her eclectic violin style bridges classical and jazz, creating compositions that both enchant and energize listeners with their earthy rhythms and soaring textures. Her latest album”An Odd Time of Day” showcases her own compositions, blending asymmetrical rhythms and folk nuances from around the world. Featuring collaborations with Slovenian well-known musicians Rok Zalokar (piano), Luka Dobnikar (double bass), Aleš Zorec (drums), and guest artists Jure Pukl (soprano sax) and Gašper Selko (trumpet), the album highlights her dynamic approach to contemporary jazz, ECM style and ethno-jazz fusion. Petra has toured Europe, North and South America and Asia with various musical projects, performing at prestigious festivals and venues. She also composes for ensembles and big bands, with her work performed by the Croatian national HRT Big Band.
